The Anti Graffiti Symposium (TAGS) is an annual conference open to individuals working for municipalities, law-enforcement agencies, departments of justice, schools, community groups, businesses and other agencies affected by and working to prevent, reduce graffiti, increase vandalism protection and criminal and civil enforcement efforts.

The City of Nanaimo RCMP detachment is proud to be hosting Tags 2013. The dates of the conference will be October, 23 and 24, with a social on the 22nd and a graffiti reading workshop being held during the morning of the 25th. This year we have a great lineup of keynote speakers, Colin Saysell from the UKPS, a 12 year dedicated graffiti investigator and one of Europe's foremost graffiti experts. Valarie Spicer and Wendy Hawthorne will be here giving their keynote speeches, also, Wendy will be hosting a Stylization Comparison workshop on the 25th of October.  Lee Jones from Saskatoon PD will be co-hosting gang graffiti lectures with Ken Davies and Christopher Young from Seattle PD. POST CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

As part of this year’s conference, Nanaimo will be hosting a separate half-day hands-on session, where graffiti experts will lead participants around Nanaimo to learn how to read graffiti vandalism symbols and tags, identify crew symbols and look at graffiti vandalism patterns. Participation in this workshop is limited and is NOT included with the main conference registration.
